The wheel travels inside the link after #, which is never sent to our server.

Choose a letter set and spin. Remove letters as they come up to go through the alphabet without repeats.

Ways to use a letter wheel

    • Category games: spin a letter, then everyone names a city, an animal and a food that starts with it.
    • Spelling and phonics: say the sound, find a word, write it down.
    • Warm-ups: one sentence where every word starts with the letter.
    • Naming: stuck on a name for a pet, a team or a character? Spin the first letter.

    Go through the alphabet once

Turn on Remove the winner automatically in Options. Every letter that comes up leaves the wheel, so you get each letter exactly once in a random order. Tap the A–Z preset to start over.

    Why leave out Q, X and Z?

Few English words start with Q, X or Z, which makes those letters frustrating in word games. The Easy letters preset keeps the other 23 so every round is playable.

    Questions

How do I get a random letter?

Spin the wheel. Each letter has an equal slice, so each has the same chance.

Can I spin only vowels or only consonants?

Yes. Tap the Vowels or Consonants preset.

    Can I avoid repeated letters?

Turn on “Remove the winner automatically” in Options; each letter then comes up once.

What is the 27th letter of the alphabet?

The English alphabet has 26 letters. Schoolchildren in the 1800s often recited the ampersand (&) after Z as a 27th, saying “and per se and”, which is where the word ampersand comes from.
